Heart and Soul

If love is all you need
Then why are so many lonely?
And bleed
Tears of pain from an aching heart
As they walk through their journey
with permanent scowls that won't part,
To give them the rest they need
from the haunting realization,
They'll probably go through this life as one ...

How does one recognize that special soul
The one, destined for them
Since the beginning of time,
What do you look for that tells you, 'it's me?'

Is it in the smile they share?
Their touch, so sweet,
Or the voice like a melody,
The color of their hair?
Or, a combination of these
and so much more ...

No, it's far beyond what you can see with mere eyes
But rather, comes from a sacred and pristine place,
That matching mixture so often belies
Any simple or trite formula,
Of exterior indicators alone
It's much more to do with the heart and soul
Ah! Those mysterious components, quite unknown ...
