Broken Dreams

A heavy heart, can only bear so much, and
Then must walk away,
A wounded soul, tho' still believing
Bleeding in this stain of sorrows,
Slipping in the gushing torrents
Begins to slide into darkness,
Beaten down by yesterday's pain ...

There are no easy answers here
Only ones of grief,
What was once such joyous anticipation
Staggers now in disbelief,
Crumbles under recurring sanctions
Slides into the shadows,
Fades into memories, repressed
Wilts under glares of rage
Whimpers there, just like the rest
Of all those hopes once seen, now dead,
In that graveyard of broken dreams ...
