River Burns
Are you the response to this river that leads
Out,
Away from the trash in the trees
You know the ones we can’t see for the logs,
Around the fireplace
Steps to the kitchen
Locks on the door
Lead me to where you want us to be …
Take my hand and give me your kiss
Hold me closer than you ever dreamed.
A bright light of promise I perceive
Excitement shelved right behind my eyelids
Waiting here,
Do you feel this like I do?
You lay across my mind
Each time with a memory of another day or evening’s dimly disguised blushing,
Sharing the shadows
Wrapped around the thought of maybe again, with you
Walking with the knowledge of how I want to
Craving the courage ...

The past can be a burden on the soul, and hopes of a pure memory a realistic view to be explored. Those hopes can be restored just as the promise of Love. Or in this case by Love. A kiss breaks the locks and shatters any memory the past may tarnish. Holding you closer allows the peace of Love to take hold and chase the bad away. The anticipation comes from knowing that if two people desire something so much then anything could be possible. And as those hopes grow so does the courage...I dont know Alisa, what do you think? Do I feel this way? lol Very very soul touching piece of art work here. Love it as always...Yours Allen
Perfect love has no fear and when love in it's purest form is experienced or shared, there is no darkness as darkness can not dwell together with light.
The promise is worthy, the reward is breath taking in every context and content is my premise...
Thank you again for your time, Allen.

First of all I love the title on this one, I see the river emotional of fire burning along the lines of this one. Fallen timbers crackling in your fireplace, burning to warm only the two of you.
Tip toeing up on this curiosity, wondering, waiting, hoping watching, and thinking maybe, just maybe this time, this one... :)

I keep reading "wrapped around the edge of thought." "Take my hand and trade me your kiss", "Walking with the knowledge of desire". I , too, like the title. It is harsh and smooth all at once.

Thank you, Tara.
What do you do with a possibility of possibilities, one that appears to be more than simply ordinary?
That my friend is the inspiration for this one.
And I still don't have answer I find myself wondering about. Even with the slight discomfort which I have discerned.
hmmmm

mmm, my favorite must be ...You lay across my mind. I too love the title - makes me feel all tingly

I love the metaphor...the river...though it's been used many times,
you give it life. The only word I have trouble with is 'response' in
the first line. perhaps:
Are you the turn in the river that leads out.
'You lay across my mind' is beautiful!
well, hello my friend.. I have missed reading your comments.
thank you.
I will take your suggestion under advisement... my thinking was that
this river is a response to a request that's been made... make sense?
hmmm...
I will go and contemplate this...

I like what you have to say and the metaphor works well. Flow was a
little off especially the 2nd line of the last stanza but other than
that I thought it was a good effort.
thanks g
