With Me

Does the promise fade with the passage of time
or does the flame flicker with age?
Does a lifetime companion lose its attraction
of the heart that is beating, albeit seeped in 'less than'
Optimum pleasure throughout this lifetime,
and somehow has settled for just O.K.

Is it only in youth one possesses that exuberance
for limitless possibilities for two?
Dreams on a heartstring blow past your window,
Reflecting pathways and songs yet to sing, or
Do you just close the door to those uncharted waters
Turn around in your lonely life and just sigh,
Go back in time when you were so much younger
and the morning sparkled in your world with flashes
of true love, the most excellent kind,
You'd sell your very soul for, pay any price,
Even willing to sign in your own blood ...

If battered and bruised with maybe a limp
A heart came to you with the promise,
Would your flame burn with desire, incredible fire
In recognition of that special one?
Or would you simply walk away, remembering the pain
from so many dismal yesterdays?
And never know if this was the one
Who could turn your world inside out,
With romance and passion, for without which, you're dying
A lifetime commitment to be by our side
And sail those uncharted waters,
Explore those distant shores
Taste the elixir of heaven,
Open that door!

Step into your destiny with me,
Give me forever to remove every trace
of previous heartbreak and blame,
Taste again the magic, touch that elusive dream
The one waiting for you,
With me ...
